Attention all Youth
Youth Club Leader:
Nikki Matthews
Youth Club will reopen
in September 2008 - Note below a sample of Last years activities.
Make
it a weekly event!! - Sundays from 7.15 - 9.15
Open to Year 7's upwards.
Please
Note: Outdoor activities may change
due to inclement weather. We have decided not to run the club
during the second half of the term because we have found in previous
years that attendance is low at this time. We feel that families
probably have other plans for evenings during the summer months!
However, we will resume in September once the schools are back.
Details of the programme for Autumn 2007 will be available before
we finish. The following events are planned for Sunday evenings
7.15-9.15pm during the
spring. The club is open to year 7s and above and there is a £1
entrance
fee. Note that there is no Youth Club on the 17th and 24th February
or
Easter Sunday.

We would like to thank you
all for your support. The youth club has now been going for 3
years and we could not have achieved this without you. Please
remember that if you have any suggestions for activities for the
club, you just have to tell us. Also, we are always looking for
help with activities etc so if you feel able to do that please
let us know.
There is URGENT NEED
for volunteers to help out with youth club activities. If
you feel you can devote a Sunday evening to demonstrate a skill
whether it be guitar playing or cookie making to the members,
please contact
Nikki by email.
Subs are £1. However, if
you help out, you'll get a voucher to give you either discounted
or free entry the following week. Please note some of the activities
maybe changed if the weather is inclement.
email Nikki Matthews for more information or offers of help. We
also welcome queries or comments and suggestions!!!
Children's Liturgy
At the 9.15 Mass (family Mass), about 50- 60
children from the ages 2½ to 10 are given their own liturgy
of the word, when they do activities related to the readings of
the day. They leave the church after the first hymn, and are taken
by Catechists (volunteers who "teach" the children) into
the presbytery where they are divided into groups according to age.
They return in procession during the offertory. They gather on the
sanctuary steps, where one or two children read a short prayer about
the theme of the day, before returning to their families.
The last hymn of the Mass is usually accompanied
by as many children as possible on tambourines, shakers etc, all
well conducted at the front.
If you would like to help in any way with children's liturgy please
e-mail
Stephanie Smith.
Youth Liturgy
Young people in school years 6, 7 and 8 are invited to the "youth
liturgy" in the church hall during the 9.15 Mass, usually on
the first and third Sunday of each month. The aim of this group
is to lead the young people into a more prayerful appreciation of
the readings at Mass, and what they mean to them in their lives
at home, school etc.
They meet in the hall at 9.15, and start with an activity or game
that will lead into a discussion of one of the readings of the day.
The group ends with a time of prayer arising out of the reading,
as well as prayer for other concerns, before rejoining the congregation
at the offertory.
Volunteers are always welcome to help please
e-mail Carol Harnett.
