RCIA
- The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Previously run under the title
“Journey in faith” – this is a process
whereby those interested in finding out more about the Catholic
faith can attend weekly sessions in small groups to explore
the faith in a systematic way.
They currently run on Monday
evenings from 7.45-9.45 in the St Joan’s centre, weekly
except during the school holidays.
Through the year, the core
teaching of the Church is presented in an informal setting,
with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, to reflect,
discuss and pray about what is covered. For some people
this is a journey that leads to baptism or being received
into full communion with the Church, if already baptised.
Some Catholics join the group because they missed out on
Confirmation. Others come because they wish to know more
about the Catholic Church and some make the decision not
to join. Whatever the reason, all are welcome to come along.
If you are interested in
coming along either because you wish to become a Catholic,
wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, or just would
like to know more, please get in touch with
Carol Harnett the coordinator, or Fr
Paul Jennings (parish priest). Click here for the autumn
2011 RCIA programme.
